Is Joom Legit?

38/100
Trust Score

Joom is a Latvian-registered marketplace dominated by Chinese sellers with extremely poor delivery times, near non-existent customer service, and a very high rate of unsatisfactory outcomes. While it is not technically a scam — items occasionally do arrive — the overall experience is consistently poor. We recommend UK consumers avoid it entirely.

The actual situation

Joom was founded in Latvia in 2016 and operates as a marketplace connecting European consumers with Chinese sellers. While its Latvian registration gives it a veneer of EU legitimacy, in practice it operates almost identically to Wish — nearly all sellers are based in China, the products offered are extremely low quality, and the platform's consumer dispute resolution is essentially non-functional. The Latvian registration means that Joom is theoretically subject to EU consumer protection directives, but in practice this provides very little recourse for UK buyers once Brexit is factored in.

The Trustpilot profile for Joom tells a stark story — a score of around 1.8/5 with a very large volume of reviews citing non-delivery, items that look nothing like the product photos, and a customer service team that does not respond to complaints. Delivery times of 60+ days to UK addresses are standard. Many items simply never arrive. When items do arrive, they are typically of extremely low quality — wrong sizes, wrong colours, or completely different products from what was ordered. The platform's complaint-to-resolution ratio is among the worst of any marketplace we have reviewed.

Our advice to UK consumers is unambiguous: do not use Joom. If you are looking for cheap goods from Chinese sellers, AliExpress at least has a functioning buyer protection system and a more established dispute process. If you are looking for budget fashion specifically, even Shein — despite its own significant issues — has a better delivery record and a more accessible returns process. Joom offers no meaningful advantages over better-regulated alternatives and poses a substantial risk of wasted money with no recourse.
