In July 2019, Superbreak Mini Holidays Ltd entered administration, abruptly ceasing all trading. This left an estimated 14,000 customers with cancelled bookings. Those who had booked ATOL-protected packages could pursue claims through the Civil Aviation Authority; however, many hotel-only bookings carried no ATOL cover, leaving those consumers with little recourse beyond credit card chargebacks under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. The collapse generated widespread complaints and regulatory scrutiny.
UK consumers should not attempt to book through any website presenting itself as Superbreak — the original company no longer exists in any trading form and holds no valid ATOL or ABTA protection. If you encounter the Superbreak domain actively selling holidays, treat it as a significant red flag and verify the operator's credentials independently with ATOL and ABTA before parting with any money. For short breaks, use established, actively regulated alternatives.
